Are you struggling to conceive? Awaiting a diagnosis? Been diagnosed with PCOS, POI, endometriosis or similar?
As women, after the initial shock, we tend to get stuck into problem solving. Research, research, research. What can I eat to fix this? What supplements do I need? What therapy will help?
When I was first diagnosed, I had a high pressure career and was already working most evenings and weekends. I started weekly acupuncture, ordered books, took on a side hustle to pay for it all, and spent every spare minute researching infertility online.
I was regularly so busy at work that I would forget to drink. There was no time to exercise, cook nutritious meals from scratch or even to get enough sleep. I was fire fighting.
If that sounds like you, please stop. I cringe when I look back now. I wasted so many years obsessing about infertility without doing the things that would have helped.
What’s the best lifestyle to support your fertility goals? The same one that supports your overall good health. And it doesn’t need to cost you extra money.
- Eat a healthy, balanced diet, focusing on fruit & vegetables, legumes, lean proteins, healthy fats, nuts and seeds.
- Drink plenty of water
- Take regular exercise
- 7-8 hours good quality, unbroken sleep per night
- Minimise stress – some stress is inevitable so have strategies in place to cope
